I have listed below some frequently asked questions.

If your query is not answered below, please do not hesitate to contact me:  07807 518704

Q. What size will the cake need to be to cater for all my guests?

A. As a rule a standard size portion is 1" square for fruit cake and 1" x 2" for sponge. Square cakes go further than other shapes. Eg. A 10" square will make 100 portions in fruit and 50 portions in sponge.  A 10" round cake would make approx 76 portions in fruit and 38 in sponge.

Q. There will be a large number of guests at the event but I do not want a massive cake. How can I get round this?

A. I can make an extra 'Cutting Cake' out of the same or alternative base if required, and ice it in the same colour as the main cake, but with no decoration. This can be cut for extra portions. As this will cost less than a decorated cake it is also ideal if you are on a budget as you can have a small main cake.

Q. Some people like sponge and other fruit cake. How do I keep everone happy?

A. If you are having a tiered cake, the top tier can be sponge and the lower ones fruit. Or you can have a sponge cutting cake made in addition to the main cake - see above question. Another idea is to have a fruit cake surrounded by sponge cup cakes.

Q. What shapes are available?

A. Round, square, hexaganol, oval, oblong, petal, teardrop, heart and open book. Sponge can be made in novelty shapes also.

Q. What flavour is the sponge?

A. The sponge can be in Vanilla or Chocolate. Carrot cake is available at a slightly higher price.

Q. Are there any cakes available for allergy sufferers?

A. An 'eggless' sponge is available. The fruit cakes do contain nuts and, unfortunately, the sponge cakes are made in a kitchen where nuts are used and therefore are not suitable for people with a nut allergy.

Q. What are the decorations made from and are they edible?

A. The flowers are usually hand made by me from sugar, although some fresh flowers can be used.  Care should be taken to avoid flowers/foliage which are poisonous or sprayed with chemicals. The sugar flowers are often wired and are not edible therefore. Characters and other models are usually made from edible sugar dough. An information sheet will be supplied with each cake giving full details of what should not be eaten.

Q. Where can I get a stand from?

A. I can advise you where to hire a stand from, or I can do this for you. The cost will depend on the type of stand and how long it is required.

Q. Do you deliver the cakes?

A. I will deliver Wedding Cakes free of charge within 10 miles radius of Uttoxeter. After that delivery is charged at 50p per mile. Delivery requirements must be booked at the time of order. Celebration cakes should be collected.
