Designing you cake can be fun.

Below are listed some tips to get you started.

Portions - How many portions will you require?

Theme - Contemporary, Classic, Romantic, Comical  etc.

Design to be based on -  Bride's dress, Bouquet, Hobbies, Favorite Flowers etc.

Tiers - do you want more than one tier?  Are the tiers to be stacked, separated by pillars, on stands?

Shape - There are many shapes including Square, Round, Oval, Hexagonal, Petal, Teardrop and Heart.  (Remember square cakes make more portions than other shapes.)

Type of Cake - Fruit, Vanilla Sponge, Chocolate Sponge or Carrot Cake.  (Fruit cakes make around twice as many portions as sponge varieties.)

If possible collect together some pictures of particular designs you like, swatches for colours, descriptions or pictures of the Bride's flowers and or dress if applicable.
